Newcastle United Football Club, commonly referred to as Newcastle United or simply Newcastle, is a professional football club based in Newcastle upon Tyne, England. The club was founded in 1892 following the merger of two local teams, Newcastle East End and Newcastle West End. Newcastle plays its home matches at St James’ Park, a stadium with a capacity of over 52,000, located in the heart of the city. The club has a passionate fan base and a long-standing rivalry with Sunderland, known as the Tyne-Wear derby.

Historically, Newcastle has been one of Englands most iconic clubs, having won four First Division (now Premier League) titles, six FA Cups, and the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup (a predecessor to the UEFA Europa League).
